Position: IT Support Administrator

Department: IT

Reports To: Director of Technology

Location: Media Matters Headquarters - Washington, D.C.

Position Summary:

The IT Support Administrator is a key member of the Media Matters' IT team responsible for supporting the operation of office computers, printers, BlackBerries, Internet connections, email, and other technology. The administrator also trains new users on various software and devices. This is an excellent position for someone interested in supporting the IT needs of a growing, progressive organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up, support, and troubleshoot Windows-based desktops, printers, and mobile devices; troubleshoot satellite television and office networking systems

  • Manage Windows-based domain and email services; set up and support user accounts

  • Train end users on the operation and functionality of various software and devices

  • Maintain up-to-date inventory of all technology hardware and software licenses; work with vendors to acquire new resources as needed

  • Recommend and implement improved practices and upgrades

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area required

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities in both technical and non-technical environments

  • User-centric approach to technical support

  • Prior experience providing IT support in a Windows workstation environment highly desirable

  • Flexible with schedule and willingness to be on-call

  • Experience with Web multimedia editing tools is a plus

  • Familiarity and proficiency with Linux is a plus

  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a skillful and timely manner

  • Thorough attention to accuracy and detail; ability to take initiative and anticipate needs

  • Commitment to the organizational mission and ideology in order to effectively promote and advance the goals of Media Matters

  • Ability to excel in a team-based, participatory environment, as well as work autonomously
